2010 my year in review!

OK....this should be my last posting for the year 2010. I tried to hold off from joining FaceBook for as long as possible, and the time I spend there has just about killed off this poor blog!

So here's the year in review......mainly just for my own personal memory log! Didn't use whole names just because I didn't want my friends to be directed here if someone googled their name!

Enjoyed the nightvision jaunts with Debra watching the deer and wildlife on the farm.

A good neighbor and a friend Teresa lost her grandmother. Went to SC for that. Haven't even had time to get over the death of another good friend Steve on Christmas day of 09? A truely remarkable musician, father to his children, and husband to his wife.
Buddy and Katy moved into their new home. I helped...just a little.

February......New washer & dryer. New hand truck w/solid tires. Upgrade wheel barrow to solid tires.
Buddy's father passed away. Mr Mercer you raised a great and loving family.
Lab tech Phillip at Castle Hayne plant has stints put in.
Start upgrading inside of my shed with insulation etc.

March......Ab & Em's yearly vet visit w/shot's etc. Sell some stuff on Ebay.....old cordless drill, and a night vision monocular on Craigslist etc.
Dad get dye injection in his back to find source of pain? On a Hibatchi cordless drill and saw buying craze via Ebay. Put doggie door and A/C unit in shed. Rick still trying to fix Debra's MicroRain gearbox! Doctor's can't find anything wrong w/Dad's back. Think it's a leg problem....vascular or nerve damage? Get Federal Tax return! Do Lifeline Screening in Burgaw. Healthy as a horse. Emily's teeth cleaned for the first time in ten years. She had a tooth pulled too! Dad got new A/C unit for his place.

April.....Finally got my chainsaw back from Dennis. Cut down trees behind my shed. Still getting Hibatchi tools from Ebay? Got new HP-35 Calc. for work. My 53rd year on the Planet complete? Mower blades for Mini Z via Ebay. Finally get NC tax return.
Buddy's Stepmom passed away. Miss Genny will be greatly missed by her children. A kind hearted soul and a poet.

May.....Mom come up to stay a couple of weeks!!!.....Abigails teeth cleaned for first time in 10 years....pulled 4 of her teeth???? Daayyuuumm...I'm so sorry girl! Took mom home and found out Tim had bought a new truck. Mom lost her purse with cell phone and over $600 cash? Washed mildew off vinyl siding of Dad's trailer & Barn for Father's day.

June.....Emily had intestinal worms? Got that taken care of with new heartworm meds. My teeth cleaned. Karen's uncle Phillip passed away.....I'm so sorry I didn't go to the funeral. Just been to so many lately and very depressed. Lot's of personal stuff not gonna mention?

July......Computer crashed and fixed. New external hard drive. New speakers for Computer. Ha.....Pure Gold....no comment!.....
Engineers access QA lab for replacement. Dad and rest of relatives do the Ocean Isle bash for a week. I refrained this year. Attitude problems? Imagine that? I got to doggie sit Tot for Dad, plus I had Ab & Em to look after!!!
Got new DVD duplicator via Ebay. Ha.....dog squeeze on the nose!!!!!LOL did a post on it.
Massive case of shits after night out at Hooter's??? Yearly physical with Dr Viser....massively overweight, but healthy. Washed Cell phone in washing machine, but brought it back to life with vacuum pump at work. Clint & Tim repairing trashed rental trailer.

August.....Family friend Darin R. passed away two weeks before his 45th birthday. His older brother Daryl passed away in 2008 and he was only 45. My heart breaks for their children and their parents. Their parents have lost their two and only sons in such a short time.
Everything else seems pointless that happened this month.

New fan motor and scales in furnace at Lab. Hot as hell this month! .....July and August SUCK!!!!!!.....Closed deal on first property in St.Helena near cemetery. Hurricane Earl passed us by.

September.....
Mom and Kathy up for weekend visit. Major yard work at St. Helena. Linda accepts offer to sell property on New Rd. Major clean up of St. Helena trailer. Mary & Dad do lots of painting. Old cell phone finally croaks from being washed in washing machine back in July. Get new one. Dad has Yard sale at St. Helena property. Build back porch Roof there.
Get new NCAT furnace at work. Abigail has a bad day where she can't hardly get up or down the steps etc, but it goes away the next day? Get minivan stuck in back yard at St Helena after massive flood rains. New tire on minivan!

October.....New back door for St. Helena. Bad incident w/ me and Dad over stupid shit at St. Helena. My fault totally....the asshole in me totally exploded? I'm sorry Dad, wish I could take back the hateful things I said!
Dad closed the deal on the property with Linda the next morning without me. Mail absentee voter's ballot in. Major repairs and upgrades on computer again. New hard drive, power supply, and two new fans. $140.00. Replace CV joints on minivan. Replace roller on sliding back door.
Swapped properties with Dad. He got the property near the cemetary and I got Linda's old place on New Rd. Water utilities in my name. Discovered VIP...happy trails, and happy endings!LOL

November.....Connect temp hose bib to water meter at New rd. Sell stock. New computer at work! Wonderful fish cookout at Buddy & Katy's...thanks!!! Cutting and burning trees at New rd. Hit a rock inside a cedar tree with chainsaw and messed up chain big time! Never seen a rock inside a tree before??? Neighbor Dave was T-boned and had his work truck totaled. Mrs E and Granny Eggs come by to visit! Made my day! Re-connect with a dear friend via FB. Haven't seen her since 82 I think? Thanks for helping me to get out and be more sociable. Do the Hustle!!!!LOL! Was out sick for a couple days from work. Saw a guy in a straight jacket at Pizza Hut. He was with about 4 other guys sitting at a table? He was able to eat somehow???? Haven't got a clue, but will never forget it! Visit Mom over Thanksgiving.

December.......Mom and Sis come up to get Pumpkin on the 3rd, a little Morkie puppy that my niece located just for her. Little did I know it would be such a blessing to Mom!

Dec. 11th, 18th, & 23rd w/my girlie Wooohoooo.......my little secret! No details, although someone didn't remember the 11th???? Our little secret. Do the Hustle! Highlight of the year...not to mention the month!!!! You will need a Top Secret Clearance to find out any more!

Mom and Dad both turn 76 this month. Crazy fun B.day party at "The Hoot" w/Dad & Scott. Learned the "Pants on the Ground" song from Dad. Thanks for driving us home Kelly. Teeth cleaned! Christmas Party at Eddie's Granny Shack....killer oyster roast...Thanks Eddie & Miss Peggy. Visit Mom & Sis for Christmas. Pumpkin is so adorable. She gets along so well with Abigail and Emily. I think Emily has a crush on her? Good to see Mom so happy. Thank you Jessica for finding and getting Pumpkin for mom. Missy my sister's boxer put on a good show for us with her howling for food skills! Hope she makes it another year.....poor thing is getting old and frail.
My neighbors and best friends Dave & Teresa got married Christmas Eve morning before I leave for Mom's. Got to see them right before I left. I don't have to go back to work till 1/3/11. So I have to much computer time on my hands, hence this post. Sorry about the grammer or sentence structure......just jotting it down as I go. This is more for me than anyone else. I don't even want to look back at all the funerals I've been to this year. Or even the last 3 years for that matter. Lost so many good friends and family.

Today....Last day of 2010.......Killer breakfast at "What's Cookin' " with good friends Dave & Johnny.
Johnny actually beat me to the punch and paid for our breakfast?
Lunch at The Olive Garden with Rick.......we devoured 3 bowls of soup and salad.
Then Karen stopped by to get my baby girlies. Gotta share darn it ;-(
So...here I sit posting this, chatting on Yahoo with my girlie, and Facebooking till the New Year arrives. Oh....and drinking cheap wine! Duplin Winery wine! Naughty & Nice mixed w/ Hatteras Red!

Veterans Day was first proclaimed as Armistice Day by President Woodrow Wilson on Novemeber 11 1919 to reflect on the one year anniversary of the signing of the Armistice which ended World War 1 Nov. 11 1918.
It was changed to Veterans Day in 1954 by President Dwight Eisenhower,prompted by shoe store owner Alfred King from Emporia Kansas to celebrate all veterans, not just those who served in World War I.

So we actually started out celebrating the "Armistice" ...."a situation in a war where the warring parties agree to stop fighting".
I guess celebrating "Peace" wasn't a very commercial success for the businessmen of Emporia, so they made it ...all about the warrior......the Veteran.
And, I by no means am downing Veterans......I am one...and I salute them all......just looking at the truth!
Anyway....I just had to touch on the reality of the situation. Politics changed Armistice Day into Veterans Day.

A funny thing happened in the history of the United States of America, the government vastly outgrew its worth. The by the people, for the people, became a not so funny joke. I stopped believing in the government long ago, but now I have come to the realization that I HATE the government. Cases in point: Barry Bonds and Roger Clemmens. These two fellows are in trouble for lying to congress!!!!!! Lying to congress????????? One more time, lying to congress????? I would think (if the charges are even true) that congress, being LIARS that have no equal, would be amused at someone even trying to get one by them, but in reality are going to try and send them to prison????? I personally would be more upset at stepping on a cockroach than lying to congress, and I can assure you that I despise cockroaches. Where is the crime, what business did congress have questioning them in the first place, and this outrage that someone might lie to them is a crock. Congress acts like they are something to be respected, WRONG, maybe something to be feared. But what they don't realize is this: If I respect someone and see they need help or are in trouble, I'll be there for them without even being asked. If I fear someone and see they need help or are in trouble, I'll do nothing to help and might join in to help rid myself of them. The federal government needs to DOWNSIZE, get back issues that concern all of the citizens, and forget this notion that they are something special. THEY ARE NOT!!! PROFESSIONAL POLITICATIONS NEED TO BECOME EXTINCT!!!!! IF the federal government wants to know what's wrong with this country, they need to open their eyes, put on glasses if necessary, and take a long hard look in the mirror................................................................... Lying to congress, lying to congress, GIVE ME A BREAK.

Will we ever wake up in this Country??????

How many people are sick of political adds? How many people truly subscribe to everything one political party stands for? How many people have decided that the issues that get trotted out every 2 years are always the same, and the people telling us that they want to fix them, are the same ones who have done nothing except pad their own pockets and the pockets of their friends (people that bribed them).
An extremely wise person once told me that anyone can complain, but they were only interested into listening to solutions.
So here we go:
1: Anyone stating lies, half truths, deception, etc., in a political add will be fined at least $1,000,000 and no longer be allowed to run for public office for life. (Life means life, no exceptions!)

2: No one can run an add for a canidate unless the canidate signs off on it.

3: Any add before it airs for the general public, must be listened to by the canidate for 8 hours in a row, if they still want to air the add, no more than 2 times a day, for 7 days. Yes, that means that the add CANNOT be aired more than 14 times.

4: Term limits for all so called public servents, with no benefits after leaving office.

5: Public servants cannot vote theirselves pay increases, it is on the ballot every 4 years and voted on by the public.

6: No more riders on bills, each bill stands on its own, all bills are made public.

7: The Federal government must downsize, if the issue does not apply to all United States Citizens, then the federal gov't has no business sticking its nose into it.

8: All Congressmen and Senators must abolish their pension plan, put that money into social security, and be in social security like everyone else. People that did not pay into social security cannot draw social security.

9: ALL GOVERNMENT MUST SHOW A PUBLIC RECORD OF ALL MONIES COLLECTED AND HOW IT WAS SPENT DOWN TO THE PENNY!!!!!!!

Dog days of summer?

Mowed the grass yesterday, then went to finish up with the weed eater. Got the back yard done and proceeded to the front.

I have a neighbor across the street who is in a wheelchair and has 3 pitbulls.

She's very dedicated to these 3 dogs and walks them with her wheelchair religiously. She even brings her poop scooping contraption and cleans up behind them. Problem is she dumps their poop on the deep end of a drainage ditch in front of my place.

I'm aware of this and SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER and just waited and sprayed it with "Roundup", but NOOOOOO......I got carried away and got a little to far into the ditch with the weedeater.

Next thing I know........that unforgettable smell of freshly laid dog squeeze permeates the air and it's following me everywhere I go. I just figured it was comming from the weedeater, but I kept smelling it after I put the weedeater up?

So I checked my shoes. Nope.....no poop there? Then I checked my pants and shirt....nope....no poop there either? I even left my shoes and clothes on the back porch just in case I missed something?

I walked into the kitchen and the smell was even stonger? WTF?????I was at a complete loss as to where that darn smell could be coming from?????

That's when I looked in the mirror.......yep.......you guessed it.....had two globs of fresh dog squeeze right on the end of my frikkin' nose???????

At that point all I could think about was the old skit from Cheek and Chong; "Looks like dog shit, smells like dog shit, feels like dog shit, tastes like dog shit. Must be dog shit. Good thing we didn't step in it!".

I'm officially on Hiatus from the blogosphere! I'm sorry I haven't taken the time to come by each of my blog buddies individually and say goodbye. I hate goodbyes!
It seems I've been spending way too much time at the computer lately and have got to finally break the habit. This is the best way to start.
Still might come by your blogs from time to time, and am thinking of turning my comments off here shortly.
Spring is right around the corner and I've got to get my lazy ass outside more and get that old clotted blood flow going. Hopefully I'll get back into it for a short while next winter when the days are shorter and the nights are longer.

WOW !!!!! This nails it on the head as to why this country is going to hell in a hand basket!

Johnny Carson nailed lawyers with one of his "how
cold was it?" jokes! "It was so cold that lawyers were
running around with their hands in their own pocket"This is very interesting! I never thought about it this way.

Perhaps this is why so many physicians are conservatives
or republicans.

The Democratic Party has become the Lawyers' Party.
Barack Obama is a lawyer.
Michelle Obama is a lawyer.
Hillary Clinton is a lawyer.
Bill Clinton is a lawyer.
John Edwards is a lawyer.
Elizabeth Edwards is a lawyer.
Every Democrat nominee since 1984 went to law
school (although Gore did not graduate).
Every Democrat vice presidential nominee since 1976,

enemies of America. And, so we have seen the

Against whom do Hillary and Obama rail?
Pharmaceutical companies, oil companies, hospitals,

through the eyes of lawyers. Lawyers solve problems

their side.
Confined to the narrow practice of law, that is fine.
But it is an awful way to govern a great nation. When
politicians as lawyers begin to view some Americans as
clients and other Americans as opposing parties, then
the role of the leg al system in our life becomes
all-consuming. Some Americans become "adverse parties"
of our very government. We are not all litigants in some
vast social class-action suit. We are citizens of a republic
that promises us a great deal of freedom from laws,
from courts, and from lawyers.

Today, we are drowning in laws; we are contorted by
judicial decisions; we are driven to distraction by omnipresent
lawyers in all parts of our once private lives. America has
a place for laws and lawyers, but that place is modest and

important decision for our next president is whom he will
appoint to the Supreme Court, the role of lawyers and the
law in America is too big. When lawyers use criminal
prosecution as a continuation of politics by other means, as
happened in the lynching of Scooter Libby and Tom Delay,then the power of lawyers in Americais too great. When
House Democrats sue America in order to hamstring our
efforts to learn what our enemies are planning to do to us,
then the role of litigation in America has become crushing..We cannot expect the Lawyers' Party to provide real
change, real reform or real hope in Americans. Most
Americans know that a republic in which every major
government action must be blessed by nine unelected
judges is not what Washingtonintended in 1789. Most
Americans grasp that we cannot fight a war when ACLU
lawsuits snap at the heels of our defenders. MostAmericans intuit that more lawyers and judges will not
restore declining moral values or spark the spirit of enterprise
in our economy..
Perhaps Americans will understand that change cannot
be brought to our nation by those lawyers who already
largely dictate American society and business.
Perhaps Americans will see that hope does not come
from the mouths of lawyers but from personal dreams
nourished by hard work. Perhaps Americans will embrace
the truth that more lawyers with more power will only
make our problems worse. The United States has 5% of
the world's population and 66% of the world's lawyers!
Tort (Legal) reform legislation has been introduced in congressseveral times in the last several years to limit punitive damages inridiculous lawsuits such as "spilling hot coffee on yourself
and suing the establishment that sold it to you" and also to
limit punitive damages in huge medical malpractice lawsuits.

This legislation has continually been blocked from even
being voted on by the Democrat Party. When you see that97% of the political contributions from the American Trial
Lawyers Association goes to the Democrat Party, then you
realize who is responsible for our medical and product costs
being so high!

THIS IS SO INCREDIBLY WELL PUT AND I CAN HARDLY BELIEVE IT'S BY A YOUNG PERSON! WHATEVER HE RUNS FOR, I'LL VOTE FOR HIM.

OUTSTANDING!

Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists, Marxists and Obama supporters, et al:

We have stuck together since the late 1950's, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce. I know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but sadly, this relationship has run its course. Our two ideological sides of America cannot and will not ever agree on what is right so let's just end it on friendly terms. We can smile and chalk it up to irreconcilable differences and go our own way.

Here is a model separation agreement:

Our two groups can equitably divide up this country by landmass each taking a portion. That will be the difficult part, but I am sure our two sides can come to a friendly agreement. After that, it should be relatively easy! Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate tastes.

We don't like re-distributive taxes so you can keep them. You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU. Since you hate guns and war, we'll take our firearms, the cops, the NRA and the military. You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore, and Rosie O'Donnell. (You are, however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big enough to move all three of them).

We'll keep the capitalism, greedy corporations, pharmaceutical companies, Wal-Mart, and Wall Street. You can have your beloved homeboys, hippies and illegal aliens. We'll keep the hot Alaskan hockey moms, greedy CEO's and rednecks. We'll keep the Bibles and give you NBC and Hollywood .

You can make nice with Iran and Palestine and we'll retain the right to invade and hammer places that threaten us. You can have the peaceniks and war protesters.
When our allies or our way of life are under assault, we'll help provide them security.

We'll keep our Judeo-Christian values. You are welcome to Islam, Scientology, Humanism, and Shirley McClain. You can also have the U.N., but we will no longer be paying the bill.

We'll keep the SUV's, pickup trucks, and oversized luxury cars. You can take every Volkswagen you can find.

We'll keep The Battle Hymn of the Republic and the National Anthem. I'm sure you'll be happy to substitute Imagine, I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing, Kum Ba Ya or We Are the World.

We'll practice trickle down economics and you can give trickle up poverty your best shot. Since it often so offends you, we'll keep our history, our name and our flag.

Would you agree to this? If so, please pass it along to other like minded liberal and conservative patriots and if you do not agree, just hit delete. In the spirit of friendly parting, I'll bet you which one of us will need whose help in 15 years.

My fellow bloggers. I must admit defeat twice and then some!!!!!!
My local blog buddy Miss Piggy ( 5'8", 140 pounds, 47 years young) has kicked Uncivil's (5'8", 225 pounds 52 years old ) ass all over the Wrightsville Beach basketball court and then some.
She wanted this on video, and the winner was to cut and edit and post on their blog but luckily for me that didn't come to pass.

So me, being the good sport that I am have humbly come before you to tell of the massacre.
We decided to play our games to eleven points by one point scoring. I must say she brought her own ball. I don't even own one???? Don't worry it's on my "exercise equipment to buy" list!

First game she dominates me eleven points to.............are you ready..........are you sure.....well then..............I did manage to score one point in that game!!!!! Ha......you thought I got skunked didn't you???
Hell, half way through.....no make that 1/4 way through the game .........I thought I was gonna have a coronary?
She was lookin' at me funny and says "are you gonna make it?....you're not gonna have a heart attack on me are you?"
So, I made it through that game with only my dignity damaged and no massive coronary or anything.
I go for the time out between games while she continues to ply her trade at the net. I'm layin' on the park bench wonderin' if I'll recover for the second game? Certainly I'll recover? Covered in sweat, breathing trying to get back to normal, right knee cap reminding me of an old karate injury, and my dignity begging me to get back out there!

OK Miss Piggy.....I'm ready for round two.........I did manage to score 5 points this time around, and then she wants to play again???? WTF????? She just kicked my old ass twice??? Somehow the best two out of three is already blown to hell??? Besides.....I don't I don't want to press the coronary issue at this time.

So we decide to play HORSE. Dammit.......yes I was a HO and a HOR and then some, and she was still just Miss Piggy???? Got my ass kicked in about three of those games.

So, as Arnold the Terminator once said......"I'll be back". I'm sure we'll have a rematch and I don't know how long I can keep the video camera out of it??????? Pray for me!!!!

Finally bought a new camera.

Took a while but I decided on the Canon PowerShot SX10 IS

I found the camera online for $335 and managed to buy another $164.99 of accessories to go with it. I'm not going to even mention where I bought it, as I have some issues with their online communication skills!!! Not to mention the HIGH PRESSURE PHONE SALES WEASEL!!!!:(

Well.......

I still don't have the heart to retire my trusty old 1.3 megapixel Sony Cybershot DSC-S30. It's been my only camera since 2001 when I first entered the cyber world.

All my previous photos were taken with it, and she was great for Ebay photos. My dad still has his and loves it.

OK.....enough crying over the old Cybershot!

My new Canon PowerShot SX10 IS takes video! Yes, I've uploaded some video taken with it today ! The files are quite large for such short clips though? I've got to figure out how to make them a little smaller? Anyone got any suggetsions? They're just short little clips but are huge in megabytes? Didn't even have any clips under 20 megabytes to email?

Anyway.....I love the clarity of the videos. I don't like that you can hear the buttons and the zoom in the audio of the video? I was impressed with the zoom on the river shot with the gal in the boat. But, it's much harder to hold a camera steady than one of those palm held camcorders.

I do like the fact that it does it all ( stills and video). But I will probably get a camcorder in the future?

Then maybe I'll be wishing I bought one of the Canon Rebel SLR's???? I'm way too photographically illiterate for one of those at the moment, so I'll continue to hone my skills with this point and shoot for now!

I had to use my two favorite subjects for my first photo/video shoot with the new toy of course. Abigail and Emily aren't impressed!LOL

Happy Trails Lulu

My mom's little fur buddy Lulu passed away last night (8/10/2009). She went to be with her best buddy Maggie ( pictured below) who passed away July of 2007. Mom called me tonight and let me know. She's so strong at handling heartache. Seems to be handling it a lot better than I could.
She passed in her sleep as Maggie did a few years back. Had a good life and lived to be 12 years old and got to spend over 10 or 11 of those years with my mom.

Mom and aunt Eva rescued her from a puppy mill back in 98 or 99. She was kept in a really small cage with hardly any human contact for the first year or so before mom came along.

Mom saw her and it was love at first sight. She's been an inside dog ever since. Got to stay in the cool of air conditioning and my mom makes the best chicken concoction to mix in with their dry food. Lulu loves to eat.

She got breakfast every morning and mom would even give her a taste of something at lunch, and of course she got supper too!

My sister's boxer Missy has been her companion since Maggie passed away. Missy would come over and stay with her every day while sis and bro-in-law were at work. Mom said Missy could tell something was wrong with Lulu yesterday and wouldn't leave her side. Guess I need to get sis to send me some pics of Missy.

Poodle from Hell????

Borrowed this photo from google images.....but, the little shit looked alot like this one?

I got home for lunch and there was the cutest little poodle sitting in the road in front of my house. It was wearing a red t-shirt and sat there like it owned the place? Completely adorable!!!!!!
I came out to where it was and it ran over to my neighbors and got under her car.
She said it jumped out of some lady's car at "Go-Gas" two days ago and no-one has been able to catch it since?

Well, it made the mistake of going in the fenced area behind my trailer and I shut the gate and trapped it in there!

That's when all hell broke loose? That adorable little poodle went frikkin' psycho when I tried to get my hands on her!!!
I can't count how many dozens of times I chased that crazy little bitch around and around my back porch and deck area? My shirt was soaked from perspiration, and I was giving out of breath?
I put some really thick long cuffed leather gloves on and she still bit the shit out of me. I finally managed to put a trash can upside down on top of her, but still couldn't get a good enough grip to grab her and put her in the dog kennel without her biting the shit out of me? She got loose again?

Then, I finally manged to corner her when she tired, and put a plastic tea pitcher over her head while she was biting the hell out of that damn thing and grabbed her behind the neck and threw her in the damn dog kennel!

No way, I was gonna let a damn poodle whip my ass??!!!!

I took her over to the neighbors and told her the best thing to do was put a bullet in that frikkin' psycho dog's head. Of course ,I could never do that but the thought sure as hell crossed my mind. Hell.....I bet the owner doesn't even want the damned crazy little shit back?

I talked to the neighbor when I got off work and she said animal control came to get the little shit and they couldn't figure out how in the hell I was able to get my hands on the little bitch? She said they had to use that damn noose on a pole to get her out of my kennel. They couldn't put their hands on her?
Say's they will keep her for 10 days or until someone claims her? I'd make dog food outta the little winch?

I swear...I believe that little bitch could whip Abigail & Emily's ass at the same time and then bitch slap a pitbull or two?

Puppy Love

It seems we have a local rescue/love story that should make national headlines if it were up to me.

My boss who lives in Jacksonville near Camp Lejeune brought the story to my attention just this morning, and said it has been an ongoing saga in the Jacksonville Daily News for many months.

A walker hound affectionately named "Buddy" was finally rescued Monday after a year of eluding his would be rescuers.

His saga began when Albert Ellis Airport employees here in Onslow County NC noticed him hanging around the airport last year. Although no one could get their hands on him, he somehow managed to capture their hearts instead.

Finally after some $3'200 in donations and lots of local media coverage over the year, a bright young lady decided to take matters into her own hands and lured him into rescue with the help of her little beagle "Roxie"!

Amanda Hickey with the Daily News staff has done a wonderful article on the rescue and I think Miss Terri Riggs and her beagle Roxie should be given some kind of award for Terri's smarts and Roxies magnetic animal attraction!

I don't know if children are exposed to the old sayings anymore, but at least one should be in every child's memory bank. It's earliest existence is traced back to 1390 AD.
For want of a nail the shoe was lost.
For want of a shoe the horse was lost.
For want of a horse the rider was lost.
For want of a rider the battle was lost.
For want of a battle the kingdom was lost.
And all for the want of a horseshoe nail.
A simple proverb, but profound -- perhaps for it's simplicity.
The questions of character, crime, and purpose can be traced to this simple thought.
Our social, financial and political problems are traceable to such an idea.
What is Reform, but the effort to put the toothpaste back in the tube?
When a parent believes their child will grow up morally straight and physically strong simply because they feed them, clothe them and protect them from overt dangers, we get all sorts of results.
Depending upon the genetic makeup of the child and the general culture of the family, such a child may do well, while others not so well.
The reality is: allowing for unknown factors, generally speaking, the way a child is raised determines how they will live.
Which brings me to another Proverb: As the twig is bent, so grows the tree.
We are currently watching as grown men and women, with advanced degrees in all sorts of concrete disciplines, put together a Spending Bill that runs completely counter to everything they know or have been taught about finances.
And when asked about specifics, they have none!
But WE are being criticized for not trusting them.
We watch as local and State officials struggle with a financial crunch they weren't prepared for and respond by making budget cuts, most of which will affect those dependent upon the State, as well as employees and retirees in one way or another. And trying to find new sources of revenue: taxing motorists for the miles they drive?
Well, here's a thought: We had recessions in the 1950's, 1960's, 1970's and 1980's. We also had a close call in the 1990's. But no one could have predicted a recession in the first decade of the new millennium?
The recession of the 1970's was worse than this one, although I don't think it was world-wide. Which begs the question: Do we have a global economy or not? Actually we're being told the U.S. recession is not as bad as most other nations.
The solution to the 1970's recession was to get rid of Jimmy Carter and the Democrats in Congress, lower the tax rate and tighten our belt.
In 3 years the economy was rolling and Democrat critics now refer to the 1980's as "The Decade of Greed," for all the money that was made -- by them!
Criminals, by nature or nurture, don't care about their victims. They are so selfish as to not even have feelings for the person they rob, rape or kill.
They act like two-year-olds: I want it! It's mine! She hit me first! But, it's not their fault, they have Anti-Social Personality Disorder.
The truth is, habitual cheats, liars and bullies are made, not born. Now, I believe all children are born with the propensity. No one teaches a child to lie. But to make a life-time pattern of doing so takes help from "The Village."
If you encourage lieing, you get more lieing. If you encourage sloth, you get more sloth, and so on. You see: you get what you reward!
For example: many a parent will refuse to check behind their children when the child says the job is done. They don't want to damage the child's self-image by doubting them.
But if you don't check, how will you know you have a liar on your hands? And if you don't know the child is lieing, how will you correct for it? Assuming you want to.
So, the child gets away with lieing at home and tries it at school. Here the teacher may catch him at it and punish him. Then the parent steps in to defend the child and the teacher learns to leave it alone or face discipline or litigation.
Some of these children gravitate to business and to politics, where lieing is more profitable.
Look at the parade of self-absorbed CEO's. Look at the Cabinet Appointees who are liars and tax-cheats. Look at our President who was recruited and mentored by men and women who are serious criminals, in their own right. Look at our Governor and U.S. Senator who were central figures in putting North Carolina in the financial mess we're in, now taking the high road in discussions about necessary budget cuts. Look at liberal Democrats in Washington who set up the Mortgage system to fail and now lecture about Bush's legacy of greed -- with a straight face!
These people are largely products of parents who grew up in the 1960's. The anti-establishment crowd. The generation that saw authority as something bad and Free Expression as something good.
Well, the chickens have come home to roost! They are now the majority population. The few actual 'adults' left in this country are forced to stand by and watch them tear down more of our culture and values.
If they had just been required to make their beds, perhaps they'd have turned out different.
O, for want of a nail -- Or a real parent!

I was the white guy with the black Burrberry jacket that you demanded I hand over shortly after you pulled the knife on me and my girlfriend. You also asked for my girlfriend's purse and earrings. I hope you somehow come across this message. I'd like to apologize.

I didn't expect you to crap your pants when I drew my pistol after you took my jacket. Truth is, I was wearing the jacket for a reason that evening, and it wasn't that cold outside. You see, my girlfriend had just bought me that Kimber 1911 . 45 ACP pistol for Christmas, and we had just picked up a shoulder holster for it that evening. Beautiful pistol, eh? It's a very intimidating weapon when pointed at your head, isn't it?

I know it probably wasn't a great deal of fun walking back to wherever you'd come from with that brown sludge flopping about in your pants. I'm sure it was even worse since you also ended up leaving your shoes, cellphone, and wallet with me. I couldn't have you calling up any of your buddies to come help you try to mug us again. I took the liberty of calling your mother, or "Momma" as you had her listed in your cell, and explaining to her your situation. I also bought myself some gas on your card. I gave your shoes to one of the homeless guys over by Vinnie Van Go Go's, along with all of the cash in your wallet, then I threw the wallet itself in a dumpster.

I called a bunch of phone sex numbers from your cell. They'll be on your bill in case you'd like to know which ones. Alltel recently shut down the line, and I've only had the phone for a little over a day now, so I don't know what's going on with that. I hope they haven't permanently cut off your service. I was about to make some threatening phone calls to the DA's office with it. Oh well.

So, about your pants. I know that I was a little rough on you when you did this whole attempted mugging thing, so I'd like to make it up to you. I'm sure you've already washed your pants, so I'd like to help you out. I'd like to reimburse you for the detergent you used on the pants. What brand did you use, and was it liquid or powder? I'd also like to apologize for not killing you and instead making you walk back home humiliated. I'm hoping that you'll reconsider your choice of path in life. Next time you might not be so lucky. If you read this message, email me and we'll do lunch and laundry.

ON SHEEP, WOLVES AND SHEEPDOGS By:

Honor never grows old, and honor rejoices the heart of age. It does so because honor is, finally, about defending those noble and worthy things that deserve defending, even if it comes at a high cost. In our time, that may mean social disapproval, public scorn, hardship, persecution, or as always, even death itself. The question remains: What is worth defending? What is worth dying for? What is worth living for? - William J. Bennett - in a lecture to the United States Naval Academy November 24, 1997 One Vietnam veteran, an old retired colonel, once said this to me: "Most of the people in our society are sheep. They are kind, gentle, productive creatures who can only hurt one another by accident."

This is true. Remember, the murder rate is six per 100,000 per year, and the aggravated assault rate is four per 1,000 per year. What this means is that the vast majority of Americans are not inclined to hurt one another. Some estimates say that two million Americans are victims of violent crimes every year, a tragic, staggering number, perhaps an all-time record rate of violent crime. But there are almost 300 million Americans, which means that the odds of being a victim of violent crime is considerably less than one in a hundred on any given year. Furthermore, since many violent crimes are committed by repeat offenders, the actual number of violent citizens is considerably less than two million. Thus there is a paradox, and we must grasp both ends of the situation.

We may well be in the most violent times in history, but violence is still remarkably rare. This is because most citizens are kind, decent people who are not capable of hurting each other, except by accident or under extreme provocation.

They are sheep. I mean nothing negative by calling them sheep. To me, it is like the pretty, blue robin's egg. Inside it is soft and gooey but someday it will grow into something wonderful. But the egg cannot survive without its hard blue shell. Police officers, soldiers, and other warriors are like that shell, and someday the civilization they protect will grow into something wonderful.

For now, though, they need warriors to protect them from the predators. "Then there are the wolves," the old war veteran said, "and the wolves feed on the sheep without mercy." Do you believe there are wolves out there who will feed on the flock without mercy? You better believe it. There are evil men in this world and they are capable of evil deeds. The moment you forget that or pretend it is not so, you become a sheep.

There is no safety in denial. "Then there are sheepdogs," he went on, "and I'm a sheepdog. I live to protect the flock and confront the wolf." If you have no capacity for violence then you are a healthy productive citizen, a sheep. If you have a capacity for violence and no empathy for your fellow citizens, then you have defined an aggressive sociopath, a wolf. But what if you have a capacity for violence, and a deep love for your fellow citizens? What do you have then? A sheepdog, a warrior, someone who is walking the hero's path. Someone who can walk into the heart of darkness, into the universal human phobia, and walk out unscathed.

Let me expand on this old soldier's excellent model of the sheep, wolves, and sheepdogs. We know that the sheep live in denial, that is what makes them sheep. They do not want to believe that there is evil in the world. They can accept the fact that fires can happen, which is why they want fire extinguishers, fire sprinklers, fire alarms and fire exits throughout their kids' schools. But many of them are outraged at the idea of putting an armed police officer in their kid's school. Our children are thousands of times more likely to be killed or seriously injured by school violence than fire, but the sheep's only response to the possibility of violence is denial. The idea of someone coming to kill or harm their child is just too hard, and so they chose the path of denial. The sheep generally do not like the sheepdog. He looks a lot like the wolf. He has fangs and the capacity for violence. The difference, though, is that the sheepdog must not, can not and will not ever harm the sheep. Any sheep dog who intentionally harms the lowliest little lamb will be punished and removed.

The world cannot work any other way, at least not in a representative democracy or a republic such as ours. Still, the sheepdog disturbs the sheep. He is a constant reminder that there are wolves in the land. They would prefer that he didn't tell
them where to go, or give them traffic tickets, or stand at the ready in our airports, in camouflage fatigues, holding an M-16. The sheep would much rather have the sheepdog cash in his fangs, spray paint himself white, and go, "Baa." Until the wolf shows up. Then the entire flock tries desperately to hide behind one lonely sheepdog.

The students, the victims, at Columbine High School were big, tough high school students, and under ordinary circumstances they would not have had the time of day for a police officer. They were not bad kids; they just had nothing to say to a cop. When the school was under attack, however, and SWAT teams were clearing the rooms and hallways, the officers had to physically peel those clinging, sobbing kids off of them. This is how the little lambs feel about their sheepdog when the wolf is at the door.

Look at what happened after September 11, 2001 when the wolf pounded hard on the door. Remember how America, more than ever before, felt differently
about their law enforcement officers and military personnel? Remember how many times you heard the word hero? Understand that there is nothing morally superior about being a sheepdog; it is just what you choose to be. Also understand
that a sheepdog is a funny critter: He is always sniffing around out on the perimeter, checking the breeze, barking at things that go bump in the night, and yearning for a righteous battle. That is, the young sheepdogs yearn for a righteous battle. The old sheepdogs are a little older and wiser, but they move to the sound of the guns when needed, right along with the young ones.

Here is how the sheep and the sheepdog think differently. The sheep pretend the wolf will never come, but the sheepdog lives for that day. After the attacks on September 11, 2001, most of the sheep, that is, most citizens in America said, "Thank God I wasn't on one of those planes." The sheepdogs, the warriors, said, "Dear God, I wish I could have been on one of those planes. Maybe I could have made a difference." When you are truly transformed into a warrior and have truly invested yourself into "warriorhood", you want to be there. You want to be able to make a difference. There is nothing morally superior about the sheepdog, the warrior, but he does have one real advantage. Only one. And that is that he is able to survive and thrive in an environment that destroys 98 percent of the population.

There was research conducted a few years ago with individuals convicted of violent crimes. These cons were in prison for serious, predatory crimes of violence: assaults, murders and killing law enforcement officers. The vast majority said that they specifically targeted victims by body language: Slumped walk, passive behavior and lack of awareness. They chose their victims like big cats do in Africa, when they select one out of the herd that is least able to protect itself. Some people may be destined to be sheep and others might be genetically primed to be wolves or sheepdogs. But I believe that most people can choose which one they want to be, and I'm proud to say that more and more Americans are choosing to become sheepdogs. Seven months after the attack on September 11, 2001, Todd Beamer was honored in his hometown of Cranbury, New Jersey. Todd, as you recall, was the man on Flight 93 over Pennsylvania who called on his cell phone to alert an operator from United Airlines about the hijacking. When he learned of the other three passenger planes that had been used as weapons, Todd dropped his phone and uttered the words, "Let's roll," which authorities believe was a signal to the other passengers to confront the terrorist hijackers. In one hour, a transformation occurred among the passengers - athletes, business people and parents. -- from sheep to sheepdogs and together they fought the wolves, ultimately saving an unknown number of lives on the ground.

There is no safety for honest men except by believing all possible evil of evil men. - Edmund Burke- Here is the point I like to emphasize, especially to the thousands of police officers and soldiers I speak to each year. In nature the sheep, real sheep, are born as sheep. Sheepdogs are born that way, and so are wolves. They didn't have a choice. But you are not a critter. As a human being, you can be whatever you want to be. It is a conscious, moral decision. If you want to be a sheep, then you can be a sheep and that is okay, but you must understand the price you pay. When the wolf comes, you and your loved ones are going to die if there is not a sheepdog there to protect you. If you want to be a wolf, you can be one, but the sheepdogs are going to hunt you down and you will never have rest, safety, trust or love. But if you want to be a sheepdog and walk the warrior's path, then you must make a conscious and moral decision every day to dedicate, equip and prepare yourself to thrive in that toxic, corrosive moment when the wolf comes knocking at the door. For example, many police officers carry their weapons in church. They are well concealed in ankle holsters, shoulder holsters or inside-the-belt holsters tucked into the small of their backs. Anytime you go to some form of religious service, there is a very good chance that a police officer in your congregation is carrying a weapon. You will never know if there is such an individual in your place of worship, until the wolf appears to massacre you and your loved ones.

I was training a group of police officers in Texas, and during the break, one officer asked his friend if he carried his weapon in church. The other cop replied, "I will never be caught without my gun in church." I asked why he felt so strongly about this, and he told me about a cop he knew who was at a church massacre in Ft. Worth, Texas in 1999. In that incident, a mentally deranged individual came into the church and opened fire, gunning down fourteen people. He said that officer believed he could have saved every life that day if he had been carrying his gun. His own son was shot, and all he could do was throw himself on the boy's body and wait to die. That cop looked me in the eye and said, "Do you have any idea how hard it would be to live with yourself after that?" Some individuals would be horrified if they knew this police officer was carrying a weapon in church. They might call him paranoid and would probably scorn him. Yet these same individuals would be enraged and would call for "heads to roll" if they found out that the airbags in their cars were defective, or that the fire extinguisher and fire sprinklers in their kids' school did not work. They can accept the fact that fires
and traffic accidents can happen and that there must be safeguards against them. Their only response to the wolf, though, is denial, and all too often their response to the sheepdog is scorn and disdain. But the sheepdog quietly asks himself, "Do
you have any idea how hard it would be to live with yourself if your loved ones were attacked and killed, and you had to stand there helplessly because you were unprepared for that day?"

It is denial that turns people into sheep. Sheep are psychologically destroyed by combat because their only defense is denial, which is counterproductive and destructive, resulting in fear, helplessness and horror when the wolf shows up. Denial kills you twice. It kills you once, at your moment of truth when you are not physically prepared: you didn't bring your gun, you didn't train. Your only defense was wishful thinking. Hope is not a strategy. Denial kills you a second time because even if you do physically survive, you are psychologically shattered by your fear, helplessness and horror at your moment of truth. Gavin de Becker puts it like this in "Fear Less", his superb post-9/11 book, which should be required reading for anyone trying to come to terms with our current world situation: "...denial can be seductive, but it has an insidious side effect. For all the peace of mind deniers think they get by saying it isn't so, the fall they take when faced with new violence is all the more unsettling." Denial is a save-now-pay-later scheme, a contract written entirely in small print, for in the long run, the denying person knows the truth on some level. And so the warrior must strive to confront denial in all aspects of his life, and prepare himself for the day when evil comes.

If you are warrior who is legally authorized to carry a weapon and you step outside without that weapon, then you become a sheep, pretending that the bad man will not come today. No one can be "on" 24/7, for a lifetime. Everyone needs down time. But if you are authorized to carry a weapon, and you walk outside without it, just take a deep breath, and say this to yourself..."Baa." This business of being a sheep or a sheep dog is not a yes-no dichotomy. It is not an all-or-nothing, either-or choice. It is a matter of degrees, a continuum. On one end is an abject, head-in-the-sand-sheep and on the other end is the ultimate warrior. Few people exist completely on one end or the other. Most of us live somewhere in between. Since 9-11 almost everyone in America took a step up that continuum,
away from denial. The sheep took a few steps toward accepting and appreciating their warriors, and the warriors started taking their job more seriously. The degree to which you move up that continuum, away from "sheephood" and denial, is the degree to which you and your loved ones will survive, physically and psychologically at your moment of truth.

Sorry I haven't been visiting my blog buddies lately. I haven't got much to say, so I'll leave you with a good read that was forwarded to my inbox this past week.

The Old Man and the Dog

"Watch out! You nearly broad sided that car!" My father yelled at me.

"Can't you do anything right?"

Those words hurt worse than blows. I turned my head toward the elderly man in the seat beside me, daring me to challenge him. A lump rose in my throat as I averted my eyes. I wasn't prepared for another battle.

"I saw the car, Dad. Please don't yell at me when I'm driving."

My voice was measured and steady, sounding far calmer than I really felt.

Dad glared at me, then turned away and settled back. At home I left Dad in front of the television and went outside to collect my thoughts. Dark, heavy clouds hung in the air with a promise of rain. The rumble of distant thunder seemed to echo my inner turmoil. What could I do about him?

Dad had been a lumberjack in Washington and Oregon . He had enjoyed being outdoors and had reveled in pitting his strength against the forces of nature. He had entered grueling lumberjack competitions, and had placed often.

The shelves in his house were filled with trophies that attested to his prowess.

The years marched on relentlessly. The first time he couldn't lift a heavy log, he joked about it; but later that same day I saw him outside alone, straining to lift it. He became irritable whenever anyone teased him about his advancing age, or when he couldn't do something he had done as a younger man.

Four days after his sixty-seventh birthday, he had a heart attack. An ambulance sped him to the hospital while a paramedic administered CPR to keep blood and oxygen flowing.

At the hospital, Dad was rushed into an operating room. He was lucky; he survived. But something inside Dad died. His zest for life was gone. He obstinately refused to follow doctor's orders. Suggestions and offers of help were turned aside with sarcasm and insults. The number of visitors thinned, then finally stopped altogether. Dad was left alone.

My husband, Dick, and I asked Dad to come live with us on our small farm. We hoped the fresh air and rustic atmosphere would help him adjust.

Within a week after he moved in, I regretted the invitation. It seemed nothing was satisfactory. He criticized everything I did. I became frustrated and moody. Soon I was taking my pent-up anger out on Dick. We began to bicker and argue.

Alarmed, Dick sought out our pastor and explained the situation. The clergyman set up weekly counseling appointments for us. At the close of each session he prayed, asking God to soothe Dad's troubled mind.

But the months wore on and God was silent. Something had to be done and it was up to me to do it.

The next day I sat down with the phone book and methodically called each of the mental health clinics listed in the Yellow Pages. I explained my problem to each of the sympathetic voices that answered in vain.

Just when I was giving up hope, one of the voices suddenly exclaimed, "I just read something that might help you! Let me go get the article."

I listened as she read. The article described a remarkable study done at a nursing home. All of the patients were under treatment for chronic depression. Yet their attitudes had improved dramatically when they were given responsibility for a dog.

I drove to the animal shelter that afternoon. After I filled out a questionnaire, a uniformed officer led me to the kennels. The odor of disinfectant stung my nostrils as I moved down the row of pens. Each contained five to seven dogs. Long-haired dogs, curly-haired dogs, black dogs, spotted dogs all jumped up, trying to reach me. I studied each one but rejected one after the other for various reasons too big, too small, too much hair. As I neared the last pen a dog in the shadows of the far corner struggled to his feet, walked to the front of the run and sat down. It was a pointer, one of the dog world's aristocrats. But this was a caricature of the breed.

Years had etched his face and muzzle with shades of gray. His hipbones jutted out in lopsided triangles. But it was his eyes that caught and held my attention. Calm and clear, they beheld me unwaveringly.

I pointed to the dog. "Can you tell me about him?"

The officer looked, then shook his head in puzzlement. "He's a funny one. Appeared out of nowhere and sat in front of the gate. We brought him in, figuring someone would be right down to claim him. That was two weeks ago and we've heard nothing. His time is up tomorrow." He gestured helplessly.

As the words sank in I turned to the man in horror. "You mean you're going to kill him?"

"Ma'am," he said gently, "that's our policy. We don't have room for every unclaimed dog."

I looked at the pointer again. The calm brown eyes awaited my decision. "I'll take him," I said.

I drove home with the dog on the front seat beside me. When I reached the house I honked the horn twice. I was helping my prize out of the car when Dad shuffled onto the front porch. "Ta-da! Look what I got for you, Dad!" I said excitedly.

Dad looked, then wrinkled his face in disgust. "If I had wanted a dog I would have gotten one. And I would have picked out a better specimen than that bag of bones. Keep it! I don't want it" Dad waved his arm scornfully and turned back toward the house.

Anger rose inside me. It squeezed together my throat muscles and pounded into my temples. "You'd better get used to him, Dad. He's staying!"

Dad ignored me. "Did you hear me, Dad?" I screamed.

At those words Dad whirled angrily, his hands clenched at his sides, his eyes narrowed and blazing with hate.

We stood glaring at each other like duelists, when suddenly the pointer pulled free from my grasp. He wobbled toward my dad and sat down in front of him. Then slowly, carefully, he raised his paw.

Dad's lower jaw trembled as he stared at the uplifted paw. Confusion replaced the anger in his eyes. The pointer waited patiently. Then Dad was on his knees hugging the animal.

It was the beginning of a warm and intimate friendship. Dad named the pointer Cheyenne . Together he and Cheyenne explored the community. They spent long hours walking down dusty lanes. They spent reflective moments on the banks of streams, angling for tasty trout. They even started to attend Sunday services together, Dad sitting in a pew and Cheyenne lying quietly at his feet.

Dad and Cheyenne were inseparable throughout the next three years. Dad's bitterness faded, and he and Cheyenne made many friends. Then late one night I was startled to feel Cheyenne 's cold nose burrowing through our bed covers. He had never before come into our bedroom at night. I woke Dick, put on my robe and ran into my father's room. Dad lay in his bed, his face serene. But his spirit had left quietly sometime during the night.

Two days later my shock and grief deepened when I discovered Cheyenne lying dead beside Dad's bed. I wrapped his still form in the rag rug he had slept on. As Dick and I buried him near a favorite fishing hole, I silently thanked the dog for the help he had given me in restoring Dad's peace of mind.

The morning of Dad's funeral dawned overcast and dreary. This day looks like the way I feel, I thought, as I walked down the aisle to the pews reserved for family. I was surprised to see the many friends Dad and Cheyenne had made filling the church. The pastor began his eulogy. It was a tribute to both Dad and the dog who had changed his life. And then the pastor turned to Hebrews 13:2. "Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it."

"I've often thanked God for sending that angel," he said.

For me, the past dropped into place, completing a puzzle that I had not seen before: the sympathetic voice that had just read the right article...

Cheyenne 's unexpected appearance at the animal shelter. . ..his calm acceptance and complete devotion to my father. . and the proximity of their deaths. And suddenly I understood. I knew that God had answered my prayers after all.

Life is too short for drama & petty things, so laugh hard, love truly and forgive quickly. Live While You Are Alive. Forgive now those who made you cry. You might not get a second time.

Animals that were formerly self-sufficient are now showing signs of belonging to the Democratic Party.....as they have apparently learned to just sit and wait for the government to step in and provide for their care and sustenance.

Here’s a run down on the socialist agenda of the Democrat party’s nominee for President from Investors Business Daily. (worth the read)

During his NAACP speech earlier this month, Sen. Obama repeated the term at least four times. "I've been working my entire adult life to help build an America where economic justice is being served," he said at the group's 99th annual convention in Cincinnati .

And as president, "we'll ensure that economic justice is served," he asserted. "That's what this election is about." Obama never spelled out the meaning of the term, but he didn't have to. His audience knew what he meant, judging from its thumping approval.

It's the rest of the public that remains in the dark, which is why we're launching this special educational series.

"Economic justice" simply means punishing the successful and redistributing their wealth by government fiat. It's a euphemism for socialism.

In the past, such rhetoric was just that — rhetoric. But Obama's positioning himself with alarming stealth to put that rhetoric into action on a scale not seen since the birth of the welfare state.

In his latest memoir he shares that he'd like to "recast" the welfare net that FDR and LBJ cast while rolling back what he derisively calls the "winner-take-all" market economy that Ronald Reagan reignited (with record gains in living standards for all).

Obama also talks about "restoring fairness to the economy," code for soaking the "rich" — a segment of society he fails to understand that includes mom-and-pop businesses filing individual tax returns.

It's clear from a close reading of his two books that he's a firm believer in class envy. He assumes the economy is a fixed pie, whereby the successful only get rich at the expense of the poor.

Following this discredited Marxist model, he believes government must step in and redistribute pieces of the pie. That requires massive transfers of wealth through government taxing and spending, a return to the entitlement days of old.

Of course, Obama is too smart to try to smuggle such hoary collectivist garbage through the front door. He's disguising the wealth transfers as "investments" — "to make America more competitive," he says, or "that give us a fighting chance," whatever that means.

Among his proposed "investments":

• "Universal," "guaranteed" health care.

• "Free" college tuition.

• "Universal national service" (a la Havana ).

• "Universal 401(k)s" (in which the government would match contributions made by "low- and moderate-income families").

• "Free" job training (even for criminals).

• "Wage insurance" (to supplement dislocated union workers' old income levels).

• "Free" child care and "universal" preschool.

• More subsidized public housing.

• A fatter earned income tax credit for "working poor."

• And even a Global Poverty Act that amounts to a Marshall Plan for the Third World, first and foremost Africa .

His new New Deal also guarantees a "living wage," with a $10 minimum wage indexed to inflation; and "fair trade" and "fair labor practices," with breaks for "patriot employers" who cow-tow to unions, and sticks for "nonpatriot" companies that don't.

That's just for starters — first-term stuff.

Obama doesn't stop with socialized health care. He wants to socialize your entire human resources department — from payrolls to pensions. His social-microengineering even extends to mandating all employers provide seven paid sick days per year to salary and hourly workers alike.

You can see why Obama was ranked, hands-down, the most liberal member of the Senate by the National Journal. Some, including colleague and presidential challenger John McCain, think he's the most liberal member in Congress.

But could he really be "more left," as McCain recently remarked, than self-described socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (for whom Obama has openly campaigned, even making a special trip to Vermont to rally voters)?

Obama's voting record, going back to his days in the Illinois statehouse, says yes. His career path — and those who guided it — leads to the same unsettling conclusion.

The seeds of his far-left ideology were planted in his formative years as a teenager in Hawaii — and they were far more radical than any biography or profile in the media has portrayed.

A careful reading of Obama's first memoir, "Dreams From My Father," reveals that his childhood mentor up to age 18 — a man he cryptically refers to as "Frank" — was none other than the late communist Frank Marshall Davis, who fled Chicago after the FBI and Congress opened investigations into his "subversive," "un-American activities."

As Obama was preparing to head off to college, he sat at Davis ' feet in his Waikiki bungalow for nightly bull sessions. Davis plied his impressionable guest with liberal doses of whiskey and advice, including: Never trust the white establishment.

"They'll train you so good," he said, "you'll start believing what they tell you about equal opportunity and the American way and all that sh**."

After college, where he palled around with Marxist professors and took in socialist conferences "for inspiration," Obama followed in Davis ' footsteps, becoming a "community organizer" in Chicago .

His boss there was Gerald Kellman, whose identity Obama also tries to hide in his book. Turns out Kellman's a disciple of the late Saul "The Red" Alinsky, a hard-boiled Chicago socialist who wrote the "Rules for Radicals" and agitated for social revolution in America .

The Chicago-based Woods Fund provided Kellman with his original $25,000 to hire Obama. In turn, Obama would later serve on the Woods board with terrorist Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground. Ayers was one of Obama's early political supporters.

After three years agitating with marginal success for more welfare programs in South Side Chicago , Obama decided he would need to study law to "bring about real change" — on a large scale.

While at Harvard Law School , he still found time to hone his organizing skills. For example, he spent eight days in Los Angeles taking a national training course taught by Alinsky's Industrial Areas Foundation. With his newly minted law degree, he returned to Chicago to reapply — as well as teach — Alinsky's "agitation" tactics.

(A video-streamed bio on Obama's Web site includes a photo of him teaching in a University of Chicago classroom. If you freeze the frame and look closely at the blackboard Obama is writing on, you can make out the words "Power Analysis" and "Relationships Built on Self Interest" — terms right out of Alinsky's rule book.)

Amid all this, Obama reunited with his late father's communist tribe in Kenya , the Luo, during trips to Africa .

As a Nairobi bureaucrat, Barack Hussein Obama Sr., a Harvard-educated economist, grew to challenge the ruling pro-Western government for not being socialist enough. In an eight-page scholarly paper published in 1965, he argued for eliminating private farming and nationalizing businesses "owned by Asians and Europeans."

His ideas for communist-style expropriation didn't stop there. He also proposed massive taxes on the rich to "redistribute our economic gains to the benefit of all."

"Theoretically, there is nothing that can stop the government from taxing 100% of income so long as the people get benefits from the government commensurate with their income which is taxed," Obama Sr. wrote. "I do not see why the government cannot tax those who have more and syphon some of these revenues into savings which can be utilized in investment for future development."

Taxes and "investment" . . . the fruit truly does not fall far from the vine.

(Voters might also be interested to know that Obama, the supposed straight shooter, does not once mention his father's communist leanings in an entire book dedicated to his memory.)

In Kenya 's recent civil unrest, Obama privately phoned the leader of the opposition Luo tribe, Raila Odinga, to voice his support. Odinga is so committed to communism he named his oldest son after Fidel Castro.

With his African identity sewn up, Obama returned to Chicago and fell under the spell of an Afrocentric pastor. It was a natural attraction. The Rev. Jeremiah Wright preaches a Marxist version of Christianity called "black liberation theology" and has supported the communists in Cuba , Nicaragua and elsewhere.

Obama joined Wright's militant church, pledging allegiance to a system of "black values" that demonizes white "middle classness" and other mainstream pursuits.

(Obama in his first book, published in 1995, calls such values "sensible." There's no mention of them in his new book.)

With the large church behind him, Obama decided to run for political office, where he could organize for "change" more effectively. "As an elected official," he said, "I could bring church and community leaders together easier than I could as a community organizer or lawyer."

He could also exercise real, top-down power, the kind that grass-roots activists lack. Alinsky would be proud.

Throughout his career, Obama has worked closely with a network of stone-cold socialists and full-blown communists striving for "economic justice."

He's been traveling in an orbit of collectivism that runs from Nairobi to Honolulu , and on through Chicago to Washington .

Yet a recent AP poll found that only 6% of Americans would describe Obama as "liberal," let alone socialist.

Public opinion polls usually reflect media opinion, and the media by and large have portrayed Obama as a moderate "outsider" (the No. 1 term survey respondents associate him with) who will bring a "breath of fresh air" to Washington .

The few who have drilled down on his radical roots have tended to downplay or pooh-pooh them. Even skeptics have failed to connect the dots for fear of being called the dreaded "r" word.

But too much is at stake in this election to continue mincing words.

Both a historic banking crisis and 1970s-style stagflation loom over the economy. Democrats, who already control Congress, now threaten to filibuster-proof the Senate in what could be a watershed election for them — at both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue .

A perfect storm of statism is forming, and our economic freedoms are at serious risk.

Those who care less about looking politically correct than preserving the free-market individualism that's made this country great have to start calling things by their proper name to avert long-term disaster.

This was the beginning of the end for me. I don't remember a whole lot from last night! I've got bumps and bruises from head to toe. Redneck Crime Scene Investigation

We've had a missing persons report of 5 baby chics.

I had determined through my vast crime scene experience that they didn't leave the nest alone. Further investigation led to the culprit. Seems he was still at the scene of the crime.

Hiding behind the "Spectracide" flea and tick spray? Like I would never think to look there?

Ain't it funny how the criminals always try to hide their face during the media press coverage?

I took him to the interogation area for further evaluation.

This is were I go to run and get away from all the traffic and hustle and bustle of life.

I have to let Ab & Em explore just a little before we take off on the run.

This is the only traffic we saw on this particular morning! Don't cha love it!
I'm a chic magnet! What can I say? Wait a minute?...It looks like they are running away from me?
Abigail says enough with the exploring. I'm ready to ride! This is how she let's me know she's had enough of the walking.
Abigail rides by herself until Emily is ready to ride.

Emily say's "Hey!......I'm ready to ride the "Short bus" now!!!"

I don't know why, but Emily does this to Abigail when she is happy! I'll be sittin' at a stop light near the house and see someone pointing to the back of my pickup. I'll look in the rearview mirror and see Emily humping away and Abigail just sits there and lets her do it?

Emily has to get out and run a few 1/4 mile intervals along the way.

Then she rests at the finish line when we're through.

I always try to walk it off afterwards. I guess I let Abigail out of the stroller too soon? I look behind and she's straggling way behind with this ( Hey the truck is this way) look on her face.

Then we turn around and she's the first one in the lead back to the truck?

She let's you know she's ready to get in the truck too!

Emily gets first dibs at the water bowl cause she ran the most!

This is the best part of my running regimine. Couldn't imagine having better running buddies?

We had such a good time I couldn't resist doing a double post on both my blogs!

Remember my little intruders?

I finally had to pull the mower out and get busy with some yard work.
The little "Mutha" sat right there on her nest while I cranked the mower and drove it out? The back of my head was but mere inches from her beak when I fired up the mower!

They hatched and I can't tell if she has five babies or not? It looked like a couple of them were laying flat on their backs?

I decided to drive the mower in this way until they leave the nest.Don't like havin' my back to the little buggars!
